Richard James, owner of Wood Park Off-Road, is proud to support the 4x4 Response Network. The network consists of 4x4 drivers and vehicles who are prepared to give their time to support a major incident or assist in bad weather.

A 4x4 response group was started in Powys after the terrible flooding which struck Tewkesbury and the surrounding area in 2007. In January 2010, West Wales experienced weeks of freezing weather and snow clogged roads, preventing many essential services from operating. Richard volunteered his time and his skills behind the wheel of a 4x4 to transport local nurses to Withybush Hospital for their shifts.

All members of the 4x4 Response Network give their time voluntarily and receive formal training and assessment in 4x4 driving and any emergency equipment they might be required to use to assist in a major incident. They are there to support police, fire, ambulance crews and county councils in an emergency. Each county in Wales has a coordinator with a database of 4x4 drivers and vehicles.

Wood Park Off-Road was used as a training venue for members in May 2010. The 4x4 Response Network sets a powerful example of how 4x4 vehicles can be of enormous value to communities in an emergency.
